Kolene commercial processing system

At our Detroit plant, we process parts for the select applications below.

Paint Stripping for High-Value Components –

Kolene® Recover®

We strip e-coat and powder coating from a wide variety of metals with Kolene Recover, a mid-temperature (250–325 °F) organic fluid process. Compatibility and finish depend on the metal, coating, and process conditions. On compatible metals under controlled process conditions, highly polished surfaces, such as those on aluminum wheels, are virtually unaffected.

Iron Sand Casting Cleaning – Kolene Kastech® Electrolytic

Our Kastech Electrolytic process removes scale, sand, and even graphite from the surfaces of cast iron components, including internal passages. Typical parts include hydraulic and pneumatic components. Kastech Electrolytic processing also improves bond strength on components that will be brazed or babbitted.

Commercial Processing

Aluminum Investment Casting Cleaning – Kolene
Kastech AL750

Kastech AL750 salt leaches residual silica investment from aluminum castings. After knock-out and mechanical cleaning, it digests the silica left in internal passages and blind areas.

Commercial Processing

Ferrous Investment Casting Cleaning – Kolene Kastech Molten Salts

We clean ferrous and select non-ferrous investment castings. After mechanical pre-cleaning, molten salt leaching removes residual shell and coring; treatment time depends on the amount of shell and core material and the part geometry. We also clean risers and gating in preparation for alloy reclamation.

Commercial Processing

Glass & Porcelain Removal – Kolene Kastech Ultra

We remove both glass and porcelain. Kastech Ultra molten salt is used for glass removal applications such as cleaning metal molds of glasses, reclaiming hermetic glass seals, dissolving glass or quartz tubing from castings, and removing solidified glass from spinnerets and tooling used to produce glass fibers.
